A few weeks back saw the running of the Table Mountain Challenge for 2011.

For those of you who have been lucky enough to run on the mountain you will all understand that there are very few cities on this planet as
beautiful for a trail run as Cape Town. The Pipe Track, The Contour, The Loop and all the gorges just make this mountain so special to explore and the best thing is that it is so easy because it is right in the city.

Table Mountain Challenge takes every great thing about this mountain and packs it all into one race. This year team Salomon decided to join
the party.

Has anyone ever wandered where Salomon came from?

After dominating the ski industry for a number of years they moved into the trail running industry and single-handedly developed trail running into what it is today.

Few know that it all started with a ski boot, the ADV 9, in 1992 that was tweaked to handle a trail in the summer and today we have athletes like Kilian Jonet dominating mountain peaks and 100milers the globe over. The ADV9 has evolved into the XA Pro 3d, the XR Crossmax and the XT Wings.

Well Done Salomon.

Eastern Rises about to hit South Africa

3 Men, Fishing Kit, a Bear, Many Trout and the Russian Wilderness.

Every year the Banff Film festival hits Ster Kinekor and the collection of ripstop-nylon, Down Jackets, apple-green and fire-orange spill into the foyer of your local Ster Kinekor. For one week denim takes a back seat and outdoor kit that smells of the last  adventure is thick in the air.

That week is fast approaching and there are some amazing videos that will be featured.

One of my favourites is this video about some mates that head of to the Russian Island of Kanchaka to fish where very few have fished before.

K-Way finds some colour for the Summer

I have been lucky enough to be exposed to the latest kit coming out of the K-Way camp.

I have never had a serious look at the kit coming out of Cape Union Mart as I have always written it off as a camping store
and not necessarily an expedition store. But I was lucky enough to visit their factory in Cape Town a few weeks ago and the K-Way team shared some light on their new range that is to hit the stores this summer.

What seriously stood out for me was their new ski gear. The designers have thought of most functionality needed on the slopes
and I thank the outdoor gods for eventually getting some colour onto the shelves. I think we all agree in the fact that we are slightly sick of Navy
Blue, Maroon, Bottle Green and Black.

Thank you K-Way for some technology and COLOUR.
